RB started our quickly against Argo High School in game 1 of the state tournament Wednesday night. The #3 seeded bulldogs jumped out to a 25-17 1st quarter lead and never looked back in route to an 80-53 victory. The Bulldogs were led by seniors Stefan Cicic and Steven Brown, who chipped in 22 and 20 points, respectively. With the win, the Bulldogs advance to the Regional Final Friday evening at Hinsdale Central. The Bulldogs take on a tough team from Simeon High School at 7:00 PM. Come out and support the Bulldogs as RB will look to cut down the nets and bring a regional championship home to the Riverside Brookfield community!

The Bulldogs were victorious Tuesday night with a hard earned 65-62 victory over Oak Forest High School. It was senior night for RB. Seniors Max Almeida, Mehki Austin, Steven Brown, Stefan Cicic, Joey Garvey, Ivan Ramos-Olvera, Sam Shelvin and John Super did an exemplary job all season long representing what it means to be a Bulldog on and off the floor. We thank them for their many contribution to the program during their tenures as varsity basketball players. It meant a lot to honor all 8 players and their families before the game. With the win, the Bulldogs finished the regular season with a 25-4 record. The #3 seeded Bulldogs will return to action next Wednesday, February 21st, with a first round playoff game against Argo High School. The game will be played at Hinsdale Central at 6:00 PM. It was a battle Saturday afternoon at Oak Lawn High School. The home team got off to a fast start and took a 22-9 first quarter lead. The Bulldogs trailed for most of the game. RB outscored Oak Lawn by 15 points in the 2nd half, took it's first lead in the waning moments of the 4th quarter, and ended up winning 68-64. The Dogs had 4 players in double figures, led by senior Steven Brown with 18 points and a game high 13 rebounds. Impressively, 8 were off the offensive glass. Fellow starters Danny Loftus chipped in 16 points and Mehki Austin scored 14. The Bulldogs play their final regular season game this Tuesday (2/13) at home against Oak Forest. The RB Bulldogs finished up their conference season with a perfect 6-0 record after beating Ridgewood 70-65 Friday night. The Bulldogs were led by Senior Big Man Stefan Cicic with a game high 25 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow Senior Mehki Austin played an excellent overall game. Austin got into the paint multiple times in route to 19 points. He also played stellar on-ball defense in the 2nd half. It will be a quick turnaround for RB, as the dogs return to action Saturday afternoon with a road game against a tough team from Oak Lawn High School. Congrats to the players and coaches on an undefeated conference season!

The Bulldogs put up a solid effort Sunday afternoon in a 75-66 lose to De La Salle High School. The teams met as part of the Sunday Showcase at Evergreen Park High School. Playing without injured sophomore Cameron Mercer (concussion), the Dogs struggled at times to match points with the talented team from the Southside. De La Salle connected on 10 3fg's, and outscored the Bulldogs 17-4 in transition. RB was led by Steven Brown with 21 points and 3 assists. Seniors Stefan Cicic and Mehki Austin scored 17 and 12 points, respectively. The Bulldogs will look to get back on track this Friday, February 9th with our final conference game of the year against Ridgewood High School. Senior Stefan Cicic loomed large Friday night during the Bulldogs 55-47 victory over Westmont High School. The senior "Big Man" scored 28 points on an impressive 11/15 shooting from the field. Cicic also secured a game high 13 rebounds and dished out 5 blocks. With the strong scoring outpoint, Cicic has now gone over 1,000 total points scored during his RB career. Fellow senior Steven Brown played a strong all-around game; scoring 9 points, grabbing 8 rebounds, and dishing a game high 9 assists. With the win, the Bulldogs clinched sole possession of first place in the Metro Suburban Conference!

The Riverside Brookfield Bulldogs handled the Lions of Leo 60-54 during a non-conference victory Tuesday night. The Bulldogs used a strong third quarter to turn a tie game at halftime into a 8-point 4th quarter lead. From there, the team never looked back in route to the 6 point victory. Seniors Steven Brown and Stefan Cicic led the way with 20 points each. Fellow senior Mehki Austin chipped in 16 points, including 2 made 3fga's. The 3 seniors scored 56 out of the RB's 60 total points. The Bulldogs return to action Friday night where the team will look to remain unbeaten in conference against Westmont.

The gym was rocking Friday night as the Riverside Brookfield Bulldogs took on the Lions from LT. A full house of students, families, and Junior Bulldog basketball players were in the house to witness the 68-60 victory for RB. The Dog's came out on fire, jumping to a 22-8 first quarter lead. Sophomore Cameron Mercer could not miss early; connecting on 3 first quarter 3fga in route to a game high 6 made 3's and 21 points overall. Senior guard Steven Brown played a great all-around game. Brown secured a double/double with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Senior center Stefan Cicic also had a double/double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Cicic played solid defense throughout the game as well. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 20-3 on the season. Our next game is Wednesday, January 31st against the Leo Lions. Tipoff is at 7:00 PM.

You can throw out the records anytime time Morton and RB take the floor together. The two teams have had some great battles over the years, and Tuesday night at RB was no different. Fortunately for the Bulldogs, they were able to outlast Morton and finish with a 50-38 victory. The game was a defensive battle throughout. RB was able to force 19 Morton turnovers and created 13 steals with relentless defensive pressure. Senior Steven Brown led the way offensively with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Dogs return to action Friday night at as rivalry week continues against Lyons Township High School.

The gym was rocking Saturday afternoon as neighborhood rivals RB and Fenwick were squaring off for an afternoon battle. The game was tightly contested throughout. RB was down 3 in the last minute of the game before senior Mehki Austin connected on a huge 3fg to tie the game. Regulation ended on a strong defensive stand and the Bulldogs were able to pull away in overtime, winning the game 63-59. Senior Stefan Cicic played a great all-around game; scoring 23 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and playing solid defense throughout. Cicic was named defensive MVP by the coaching staff after the game. In addition to his huge 3-pointer, Mehki Austin also scored 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished out 3 assists. With the win, RB improves to 17-3 on the season. Our next game is Monday, 1/22 in a rescheduled home game against Westmont.

The Bulldogs moved their conference record to 3-0 after handling Elmwood Park 72-45 Friday night. The Dogs jumped out to a 26-10 first quarter lead and never looked back. It was a balanced scoring attack for the Bulldogs, as starter Danny Loftus and Cameron Mercer chipped in 14 points each. Senior Big Man Stefan Cicic scored 10 points and secured a game high 9 rebounds. The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow (Saturday), with a big 4:00 PM tilt against a tough team from Fenwick Academy. The Bulldogs lost a tough one Monday afternoon against Hillcrest High School as part of a competitive weekend shootout at Homewood Flossmoor High School honoring the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Bulldogs were outscored 21-13 in the 4th quarter, and ultimately succumbed to Hillcrest 63-57. RB was eager to take the court after the previous back-to-back games were cancelled due to weather conditions in the area. Senior Stefan Cicic lead the Dogs in scoring and rebounding, with 16 points and 8 boards. It was a tightly contested affair Saturday afternoon at RB. Fans of the Bulldogs, and neighborhood rival Nazareth Academy, were going back-and-forth supporting their teams in a tightly contested affair. Ultimately, it was the Bulldog supporters that went home happy after the narrow 66-64 victory. Senior Steven Brown played a terrific game, leading the Bulldogs with 23 points and 8 assists. Fellow Senior Stefan Cicic chipped in 21 points and a game high 16 rebounds. Both teams competed hard and had leads throughout the game. The Riverside Brookfield Bulldogs were able to hold off a strong 3rd quarter rally and beat a tough #15 ranked Lincoln Park Lions squad. RB jumped out to 23-13 first quarter lead and took a 12 point margin into halftime. The Lions were able to chip away at the lead, but the Bulldogs ultimately prevailed 70-63. Senior Stefan Cicic lead the Bulldogs with 21 points and 16 rebounds. Fellow senior Mehki Austin chipped in 19 points, on an efficient 8 for 10 shooting on 2fga. The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround, taking on rival Nazareth Academy tomorrow (Saturday, 1/6) for a 4:00 PM tip off at home.

The Riverside Brookfield Bulldogs overcame a halftime deficit to beat the Conant Cougars 54-41 in the 4th and final game for RB at the Jack Tosh Holiday Classic. With the win, RB concludes the week with a 3-1 record at Tosh and moves to 13-2 overall on the season. Senior Big Man Stefan Cicic led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore Cameron Mercer chipped in 17 points. RB returns to action this Friday, January 5th against a tough team from Lincoln Park High School The game will tip off at 6:00 PM at Hyde Park High School, as part of the schools New Year Classic Shootout. Senior Steve Brown was making plays all over the court Wednesday afternoon against rival Lyons Township. Brown finished with a game high 26 points and 8 assists. Against the zone defense from Lyons, Brown came up huge from the outside, connecting on 4 3-pointers, many of them during key moments of the 4th quarter. Senior Mehki Austin also connected on two key 4th quarter 3-pointers in route to 13 points. Multiple players made winning contributions to lead RB to a 71-56 win. The Bulldogs play their final game of the Jack Tosh Tournament Thursday afternoon at 1:30 PM against Conant High School.

The Riverside Brookfield Varsity Bulldogs lost a tough one Wednesday afternoon, falling 53-51 to Palatine High School in game 2 of the Jack Tosh Holiday Tournament. It was a back and forth game throughout. The Dogs had a 1 point halftime lead and went into the 4th quarter up by 3, but were not able to hang on. The game was tied at 51 each with just over 3 seconds remaining, before Palatine player Connor May tipped in a lob pass at the buzzer. The Bulldogs were led by Cameron Mercer with 21 points. Mercer made a game high 6 3-pointers. With the loss, the Bulldogs look to bounce back quickly with a game against neighborhood rival Lyons Township tomorrow at 3:30 PM.

The Riverside Brookfield Varsity Bulldogs advanced to the winners side of the bracket after a 65-52 victory over a gritty team from Minooka High School. Seniors Steven Brown and Stefan Cicic led the Bulldogs in scoring with 18 points each. Fellow senior Mehki Austin provided a lift with 6 unanswered points at the tail end of the second quarter to help extended the halftime lead to 7 points. Austin also led the Bulldogs with 7 assists. The Bulldogs used a 17-11 edge in 4th quarter scoring to move the lead into double figures and finally put the Indians away. With the victory, the Bulldogs will spend the rest of the week on the winners side of the bracket. Our next game is tomorrow (Weds, 12/27) against the Palatine Pirates at 3:30 PM. The Riverside Brookfield Varsity Bulldogs cruised past Bremen High School Tuesday night, with a convincing 69-34 victory. Sophomore Cameron Mercer came out firing from deep; going 5-8 on 3fga attempts in route to a game high 24 points. Senior Stefan Cicic shot an efficient 10-11 on fga in route to 20 points and 13 rebounds. Cicic also threw down multiple alley-oop dunks after great lob passes from his teammates. Many of the passes came from senior Steven Brown, who had a game high 7 assists. The basketball team will take a 6-day break from game action while players finish preparing for their final exams and spending time with their families for the holidays. The Jack Tosh Holiday Classic kicks of this year on Tuesday, December 26th at York High School. The Bulldogs were given the 3rd overall ranking out of the 32 teams in the tournament. Our first game is at 10:30 AM against Minooka. The Jack Tosh Tournament is one of the premiere holiday tournaments in the Chicagoland area. The Bulldogs were down two starters Friday night at Ridgewood High School. Senior Sam Shelven was out with a sprained ankle, and sophomore Cam Mercer was battling an illness. The first half was tightly contested, but the Bulldogs used a huge 3rd quarter to turn a 9 point halftime lead into an 88-57 conference victory. Senior Stefan Cicic was huge! Cicic scored a team high 26 points and grabbed a season high 18 rebounds. Fellow starters Steven Brown, Danny Loftus, and Mehki Austin chipped in 18,15, and 12 points respectively. The 88 points was the largest offensive output of the season for the Bulldogs. Junior Vince Dockendorf was named defensive MVP of the game by the coaching staff after coming off the bench and forcing Ridgewood's best player into tough contested shots. As other players were battling foul trouble, Dockendorf's defensive commitment was timely and essential. With the win, the Bulldogs improve to 9-1 and 2-0 in conference. The RB Varsity Boys basketball team jumped all over the visiting Crete Monee high school from the opening tip-off Tuesday night. A tip-in at the buzzer by junior Mantas Sleinys helped the bulldogs take a 38-16 lead into halftime. The team never looked back, securing a 62-44 victory with a 4th quarter running clock. The Bulldogs shot 45% on 3fga, including 3 makes by Cameron Mercer in the 2nd quarter. RB used a 36 to 21 rebounding edge to almost double-up Crete Monee via points-in-the-paint. The Bulldogs were led in scoring by Senior Center Stefan Cicic with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Mercer chipped in 17 points in 20 minutes of game action, and fellow starters Danny Loftus and Steven Brown each scored 9 points apiece. The Bulldogs return to action Friday night, when they take on conference rival Ridgewood High School. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 PM at Ridgewood.

It was a tough and hard fought game Saturday morning in game one of the Team Rose Classic at Mount Carmel High School. The Bulldogs took on Thornton Fractional North in the first game of the prestigious basketball event. It was tough sledding throughout for both teams; as baskets, rebounds, and breathing room on the court was tough to come by. Ultimately, the Bulldogs used an 18-4 second quarter run to take a lead they would never relinquish, securing a 57-48 victory. Sophomore Cameron Mercer was all over the court defensively, being named "Defensive MVP" by the coaching staff for the second game in a row. Mercer also led the Bulldogs with 21 points and made some key free throws down the stretch. Starts Danny Loftus and Stefan Cicic both scored 11 points, and multiple other players made winning contributions throughout the game. With the victory, the Bulldogs move to 7-1 on the season, and return to action next Tuesday (12/12) for a 7:00 PM home game against Crete Monee High School.

Conference season is officially underway! The RB bulldogs got off to a quick start Friday night, outscoring Elmwood Park High School 27-8 in the first quarter. The Bulldogs used the momentum of the early lead and extended it throughout the game, before ultimately prevailing 69-31. The Bulldogs had a 42-14 advantage in points-in-the-paint, and shot 65% on fga. Junior Danny Loftus shot 6 for 7 from the field and set a varsity career high with 18 points. Senior Stefan Cicic scored 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds in 17 minutes of action. With the victory, the Bulldogs improved to 1-0 in conference and 6-1 overall.

The RB bulldogs had a great team effort in beating Latin High School 79-47. Multiple players made contributions to the game and committed winning plays. Senior Stefan Cicic lead the bulldogs with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Seniors Steven Brown and Mehki Austin chipped in 16 and 13 points, respectively as well. Ten different RB players got into the scoring column, and senior guard Joseph (Joey) Garvey came off the bench to take two separate charges. Afterwards, Garvey was named defensive MVP of the game by the coaches. The Bulldogs return to action Friday night for our first conference game of the season. It is a 7:00 PM tipoff against Elmwood Park High School. The game is also "Middle School Night", where our Junior Bulldog players will be in attendance and will participate in games afterwards. For the second year in a row, and 4th time overall, the Riverside Brookfield varsity boys basketball team was selected to participate in the prestigious Chicago Elite Classic. This year, the event took place on the campus of UIC. The Chicago Elite Classic features some of the best teams in the state, in addition to nationally ranked teams across the nation. For the first time in 3 previous tries at the Classic, the Bulldogs came out victorious, beating St. Ignatius 50-49. The game was tightly contested throughout, but the Bulldogs were able to hang on to a 1-point victory after a last second shot from Ignatius fell just short. Senior Mehki Austin came off the bench to lead the Dogs in scoring with 12 points. It was a total team effort, as seniors Stefan Cicic and Steven Brown both scored in double figures. Junior Danny Loftus connected on a huge 3 pointer in the waning minutes of the game. With the win, RB improves to 4-1 overall with a busy week ahead. The Riverside Brookfield Varsity Bulldogs lost a tough one to Brother Rice High School, falling 76-62 in the Championship Game of the 20th annual Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving Classic. Brother Rice used a 25-15 3rd quarter run to extended a 6 point halftime lead into double digits into the 4th quarter. RB struggled to make shots, shooting 4-13 on 3FG and 8-18 on free throws. Sophomore Cameron Mercer lead the dogs in scoring with 20 points, and senior Stefan Cicic chipped in 19 points and 7 rebounds. For the third consecutive game, senior center Stefan Cicic lead the Dogs in scoring, this time contributing 22 points. Cicic overcame early foul trouble, and came out firing after halftime, scoring 18 of his 22 points in the 2nd half. Senior Steven Brown played a great all-around game; scoring 12 points, grabbing 5 rebounds, and dishing out a team high 6 assists. Brown was also awarded "Defensive Player of the Game" by the coaching staff after the game. With the victory, the Bulldogs advance to the Championship game of the VendeMert Thanksgiving Classic today (Saturday, 11/25) against Brother Rice High School at 4:30 PM. It was an exciting game Wednesday night during game two of the Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving classic. Both Riverside Brookfield and Hinsdale South came out firing in what would end up a high scoring and back-and-forth affair. Ultimately, RB was able to hold off a late Hinsdale rally and win the game 86-71. Senior Stefan Cicic was dominating around the basket; scoring 31 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Sophomore Cameron Mercer scored 20 points for RB, and senior Mehki Austin came off the bench to score 13 points and provided a tremendous energy boost and spark on defense. The Bulldogs return to action on Friday, November 24th versus Thornwood High School at 4:30 PM. The Riverside Brookfield Boys Varsity basketball team kicked off it's season in dominating fashion with a 77-18 win over Handcock High School in game 1 of the Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving classic. The Bulldogs came out on fire, taking a 33-3 lead at the end of the 1st quarter and never looked back. Multiple players made winning contributions on the floor. Senior center Stefan Cicic lead all scorers with 17 points, including a couple of thunderous alley-oop dunks that fired up the crowd. Sophomore guard Cameron Mercer scored 11 points, including 3 made three-pointers. The Bulldogs play their 2nd game of the season tonight (Weds 11/22) against Hinsdale South High school at 7:00 PM. The team is looking to keep its momentum going from last night. Please come out and support the Bulldogs and watch some great basketball during the 20th annual Bill VandeMerkt classic!
