Bulldogs Come Up Short In Conference Championship The Bulldogs (11-2, 8-2) just couldn't make enough plays in OT and fall to Timothy Christian 60-54 to end their 2021 season. The game was not without excitement. Joevonn McCottry hit a 3-pointer with under 3 seconds to play to send the game into overtime. JP Hanley had 17 points and was all over the boards with 18 rebounds. Cory Baker chipped in with 13 points of his own. Senior Michael Bloodgood was a spark off the bench with two 3's. The loss ends the careers of seniors Michael Bloodgood, Julian Colon, Luke Garvey, DeAndre Harris, Jack Pitts, and Jack Szymczak. This group of seniors finished their very successful high school careers with a 70-26 record over their four years, with three conference titles and a IHSA regional championship. They have given their hearts and souls to our basketball program over the past four years and will be missed. Best of luck seniors!
Strong 2nd Half Fuels Dogs' 10th Straight The Bulldogs (11-1, 8-1) outscored Nazareth 30-17 in the second half to win 59-38 to nab their 10th win in a row. Another night with a balanced scoring attack. Four different Bulldogs were in double figures led by JP Hanley (3/5 3pt) with 15pts. Joe Gilhooley added 12pts 8rebs with Joevonn McCottry contributing with 10pts. Julian Colon had some big minutes off the bench adding 11pts and a half court buzzer-beater at the end of the 3rd. The Bulldogs are back in action this weekend as they close out the season with two conference games against Aurora Christian (Friday) and Timothy Christian (Saturday).
Dogs Pull Off Tough Road W The Bulldogs (10-1, 8-1) used some tough play and key free throws down the stretch to pull away and seal their 9th straight victory 52-42. After a rough first half with the Bulldogs only leading 15-13, RB outscored the Spartans 20-12 in the 4th quarter to put them away. Once again, the Dogs had three players in double figures. Joe Gilhooley (12pts, 7rebs) and JP Hanley (12pts, 5rebs) led the way with Brady Vaia contributing 11pts and big free throws down the stretch.
Make It 8 The Bulldogs (9-1, 7-1) hit their first 5 three's of the game to jump out to a lead and never looked back beating Bishop Mac 75-51 to capture their 8th win in a row. JP Hanley filled up the stat sheet with 15pts, 11rebs and 4 asst. Joevonn McCottry added 16 points to lead the Dogs and contributed further with 5rebs, 4 asst and 4 steals. Cory baker added 15pts off the bench.
Lucky Number 7 (In-A-Row) A slow start against IC saw the Bulldogs (8-1, 6-1) only leading 19-15 at the half. The 3rd quarter lineup of Michael Bloodgood, Julian Colon, Brady Vaia, Deandre Harris and Joevonn McCottry gave a shot of energy to the Dogs as they provided a spark offensively and never looked back finishing off IC 52-35 to pick up their 7th straight victory. Three Bulldogs were in double figures led by JP Hanley with an efficient 16pts (4/4 3pt), followed by McCottry with 14 and Joe Gilhooley with 11.
Dogs Drop Andrew for 6th Straight A hot shooting night saw the Bulldogs (7-1, 5-1) go 10/19 (52.6%) from 3pt range as they beat Andrew 61-53 for their 6th straight victory. Three different players were in double figures led by JP Hanley with 22 points (5/8 3pt). Cory Baker added 14 points and 6 rebounds. Joevonn McCottry contributed 12 points and 5 assists.
Bulldogs Make It 5 In A Row Four players were in double figures on Tuesday night as the The Bulldogs (6-1, 5-1) picked up their 5th straight victory with a 74-41 win at Westmont. Joe Gilhooley and Cory Baker led the way with 15 points each. Joevonn McCottry added 12 and JP Hanley chipped in with 10. Bulldogs take on Andrew at home on Wednesday night at 7pm. Dogs Close out 3-0 Week Against ACC Saturday The Bulldogs (5-1, 4-1) close out a 3-0 conference week with a 65-39 win on Saturday against ACC. All in all, 10 different players scored with JP Hanley (14 points) and Joe Gilhooley (10 points) leading the way.
Dogs Beat St. Ed's on Senior Night The Bulldogs (4-1, 3-1) outscored St. Ed's 23-2 in the 4th quarter to win 67-41 picking up their 3rd straight victory. JP Hanley and Joevonn McCottry led the way with 21 and 20 points respectively.
Dogs Use Big 3rd Quarter to Pull Away in W The Bulldogs (3-1, 2-1) outscored Elmwood Park 27-15 in the 3rd quarter to pick up their second conference victory on the season 78-59. The team made 11 3-pointers in the game and assisted on 21 of 28 FGs. Overall, 4 Bulldogs put up double figure scoring figures. JP Hanley led the team with 19 points and 11 rebounds, followed by Joevonn McCottry with 15 (4/7 3pt). Cory Baker (12 points) and Julian Colon (11 points) rounded out the balanced scoring attack.
Bulldogs Pick Up Hard Fought W The Bulldogs (2-1, 1-1) rebounded from an OT loss to Wheaton Academy to pick up a tough conference victory on the road at Chicago Christian 77-70. JP Hanley had the hot hand knocking down 6 threes and leading the way with a season high 23 points. Joe Gilhooley added 15 points and 6 rebounds. Cory Baker was also in double figures with 14 points along with hitting some key free throws down the stretch. Varsity Loses Close One in OT The Bulldogs (1-1, 0-1) couldn't hold onto a late lead against Wheaton Academy and ended up losing 55-53 on Wednesday night. A back-and-forth game that included 14 lead changes, saw the Dogs allow a 3 pointer at the buzzer to send the game to OT where they were outscored 8 to 6. Joevonn McCottry led the way with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 steals. JP Hanley was also in double figures with 10 points. Varsity Starts 2021 Season With a Win!! The Bulldogs kicked off their 2021 campaign with a 45-39 win on the road against Glenbrook North. Leading by as much as 12 points in the 3rd quarter, the Dogs got contributions from many players as they made plays down the stretch to pull off the victory. JP Hanley (3/9 3pt) and Joevonn McCottry 2/5 3pt) each were in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively to lead the way. Cory Baker added 8 points, while Brady Vaia and Michael Bloodgood contributed 6 apiece.
