Season Comes To A Close For The Bulldogs The Bulldogs battled but lost to a very talented Curie in the regional championship. The Bulldogs finished the season 19-11 and won the Metro Suburban Conference championship with a 10-2 record in the league. The 19-11 finish was very impressive considering a 1-5 start to the season. The Dogs had many highlights throughout the year, including getting to play in the Chicago Elite Classic at UIC Pavilion vs. Lyons Township, coming back from 8 points down with 1:08 left to beat Wheaton North. Buzzer beater wins vs. ICCP, Fenwick (who was ranked number 6 at the time), and York. Of course, winning the conference championship was also a very big highlight. Junior point guard, Zach Vaia was named Metro Suburban Conference Player of the Year, while seniors Jason Bageanis and Ryan Cicenas, as well as junior Andrew Veon, joined him on the All-Conference team. Cicenas led the Bulldogs in scoring this season, while Bageanis led in rebounding and Vaia led in assists. The loss also ends the very good four year careers of Jason Bageanis, Ryan Cicenas, AJ Meindl, and Jake Vaia. These four seniors did everything the right way, worked very hard, had great character on and off the floor, and were very coachable. They had a lot of success on the court over their four years. Cicenas will continue his basketball career at St. Xavier University after scoring over 900 career points and is second all-time in three pointers made in a career at 197, 10 shy of Randy Ramsey's 207. Best of luck to the Bulldog Basketball Class of 2018 in their future endeavors. Dogs Battle But Drop Regional Final to Curie The Bulldogs lost the IHSA Regional final to the Curie, the #3 ranked team in the state, 67-59 to bring their season to an end. The Dogs played the Condors tough for 4 quarters but fell just short. Ryan Cicenas led the Bulldogs with 21 points hitting 5-9 3 pointers. Andrew Veon added 21 points. And Jason Bagaenis was 4-4 from 3pt range finishing with 12 points.
Buzzer Beater Sends Bulldogs to Regional Final!! The Bulldogs beat York 52-49 on a 3pt buzzer beater by Andrew Veon to advance to the IHSA Regional Final. The Dogs overcame a slow start and trailed 21-10 at the half before picking up the pace and pressure to outscore the Dukes 31-20 in the second half. Zach Vaia led the Bulldogs with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Along with sinking the final shot, Andrew Veon played an efficient game by scoring 18 points on 8-11 from the field and grabbing 5 rebounds. The Bulldogs will face the #1 seed Curie in the Regional Final this Friday at 7pm at Curie High School.
Bulldogs Drop Final Conference Game to Wheaton Academy The Bulldogs (18-10, 10-2) lost a close one 62-59 on the road at Wheaton Academy to split a share of the conference championship. Zach Vaia led the Dogs with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Ryan Cicenas and Patrick Hanley each had 10 points apiece. The Bulldogs begin their IHSA playoff run Wednesday 02/28 against York at Curie High School.
Bulldogs Clinch Share of Conference Title With Win at ACC The Bulldogs (18-9, 10-1) guaranteed themselves at least a share of the conference title with a 57-19 win over ACC. The guys started out on a 14-3 run in the first quarter and never looked back from there. Patrick Hanley led the Dogs with 14 points on 4-5 from 3 points range. Zach Vaia and Andrew Veon each had 10 points apiece. This marks the Dogs 10th straight conference win. The Bulldogs look to clinch the conference title outright this Tuesday at Wheaton Academy.
Bulldogs Get 9th Straight Conference Win The Bulldogs (17-9, 9-1) erased an 8 point halftime deficit to beat Glenbard South 69-59. The Bulldogs pulled to even after 3 quarters and then outscored the Raiders by 10 in the fourth to come up with a big conference victory. Zach Vaia had a big second half and finished with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Ryan Cicenas had 17 points and Andrew Veon added 13.
Bulldogs Get Win on Senior Night! The Bulldogs (16-9, 8-1) picked up their 5th straight win 58-45 against the Fenton Bison on Tuesday night. After a slow start to the game, the Bulldogs used a strong 2nd & 3rd quarter to pull away and led by as many as 28. Three Bulldogs scored in double figures led by Ryan Cicenas with 13 points. Andrew Veon added 12 points, with Jason Bagaenis putting up 11. Seniors Jake Vaia and AJ Meindl also contributed valuable minutes. Vaia scored 8 points while Meindl played tough defense and grabbed 4 rebounds.
Varsity Bulldogs Beat Fenwick! The Bulldogs (15-9, 7-1) used a balanced scoring attack and tough defense to upset Fenwick 67-65. The Dogs led by as many as 10 points in the second half, but Fenwick fought back to tie the game with 28 seconds remaining. Zach Vaia had the final bucket, hitting a fade away jumper with 2 seconds left to give the Bulldogs the final edge. Four Bulldogs scored in double figures led by Ryan Cicenas with 16 points. Zach Vaia went 4-9 from 3pt and ended up with 14 points and 9 assists. Patrick Hanley, 12 points, added 4 threes of his own and Jason Bageanis contributed 13 points.
Varsity Bulldogs Get Conference Win Against Illiana Christian The Bulldogs (14-9, 7-1) get an important win 71-50 against Illiana Christian to maintain their lead in the conference. Zach Vaia led the Bulldogs with 24 points 6 rebounds and got to the line to go 10-12 from FT. Ryan Cicenas added 17 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Andrew Veon was also in double figures with 12 points and pulling down 5 rebounds.
Varsity Bulldogs Sink ICCP at Buzzer! Zach Vaia drained a 30 footer at the buzzer to put away the Knight 47-44 in a huge conference battle at ICCP. The Bulldog (13-9, 6-1) offense struggled to find their rhythm most of the game, but all they needed was 3 seconds in their final possession to get off the shot that mattered most. Andrew Veon inbounded the ball to Jason Bageanis who found Vaia cutting back towards the ball. Vaia was able to step into a highly contested shot that banked in as the horn sounded. Jason Bageanis led the Bulldogs with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Zach Vaia ended up with 10 points and 7 assists.
Hot Shooting Propels Varsity against Chicago Christian! Four Bulldogs scored in double figures as RB (12-9, 5-1) gets a big road win 81-57 against Chicago Christian. The Bulldogs had the offense rolling as they hit 14 threes (14-27, 51%) and assisted on 26 of 32 total field goals. Andrew Veon led the way with 16 points and 6 rebounds along with a thunderous dunk in the 3rd quarter. Zach Vaia had 15 points and 13 assists. Ryan Cicenas and Patrick Hanley were also in double figures with 13 and 12 respectively. The Bulldogs get back into conference play on Friday 01/26 at ICCP.
Varsity Drops Final Game of MLK Tournament to St. Viator The Bulldogs (11-9, 5-1) lost to St. Viator 73-60 in their last game of the Loyola MLK Tournament. Trailing by as much 13 in the first half, the Bulldogs came out strong in the 2nd half to cut the lead to 3, but were unable to get the stops needed to close out the game. Ryan Cicenas led the Bulldogs with 17 points. Reggie Loury contributed 11.
Varsity Win Streak Halted at 6 with Loss to DePaul DePaul Academy's 11-0 opening run proved to be the difference in the final game of pool play in the Loyola MLK Tournament as the Bulldogs lose 47-36 to the Rams. The Dogs (11-8, 5-1) showed great resolve as they fought back to play a strong second half outscoring the Rams 23-20 in the half. Ryan Cicenas led Bulldogs with 14 points. The Bulldogs finished 2nd in their pool and will play St. Viator on Monday in the final game of the Loyola MLK Tournament.
Varsity Gets 6th Straight Win! The Bulldogs (11-7, 5-1) overcome a sluggish 1st half to beat Elgin St. Ed's 60-44. Trailing at the half, the Bulldogs outscored St. Ed's 36-18 in the second half to win their 6th straight game. Zach Vaia led the Dogs with 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Ryan Cicenas chipped in with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists.
Varsity Makes It 5 In A Row With Win Over St. Francis! The Bulldogs (10-7, 5-1) beat St. Francis 69-66 to win their second game of pool play in the Loyola MLK Tournament. With the flu keeping leading scorer Ryan Cicenas out for the night, Zach Vaia stepped up his offensive game to drop 31 points while adding 7 rebounds and 4 assists. He was a perfect 12-12 from the free throw line including some clutch free throws in the fourth quarter. Patrick Hanley (12 points) and Reggie Loury (11) also contributed to the scoring. AJ Meindl gave the Bulldogs a spark off the bench with two quick buckets in the 1st quarter that helped get the offense going. Bulldogs are back in action again this Friday with a conference cross-over game against St. Ed's here at RB.
Varsity Gets 4th Straight with Win Over Lindblom The Bulldogs (9-7, 5-1) toughed out a 52-46 win over Linblom in their first match up for the Loyola MLK Tournament. Ryan Cicenas got the Bulldogs out to a hot start hitting five 3s in the first half and finishing with 21 total points and 6 rebounds. Andrew Veon added 10 points of his own while Jason Bageanis led the Dogs with 9 rebounds. The Bulldogs are now 8-2 in their last 10 games. They continue pool play in the Loyola MLK Tournament at RB Monday against St. Francis of Wheaton.
Varsity Now Sit Atop Conference Alone with Win Over Wheaton Academy!! The Bulldogs (8-7, 5-1) shot lights out against Wheaton Academy to grab hold of the division lead in the conference with a 77-61 win on Friday night. The offense was clicking on all cylinders hitting 14 of 29 3pta (48%) and assisting on 24 of 28 total buckets. Four Bulldogs scored in double figures led by Zach Vaia who put up a stat line of 17 points (5/8 3pt), 11 assists & 5 rebounds. Reggie Loury contributed 15 points off the bench while Ryan Cicenas (12pts) and Patrick Hanley (16pts) each hit four 3's of their own.
Varsity Closes Out York Christmas Tournament With a Win!! The Bulldogs (7-7, 4-1) put together 4 solid quarters of basketball to get the win 65-40 against Rolling Meadows in their final game of the York Christmas Tournament. A great team defensive effort held Rolling Meadows to 33% from the floor while also out hustling the Mustangs to win the rebound battle 31-16. Doesn't hurt that the offense was clicking too. Patrick Hanley led the Dogs with 18 points (4-9 3pt) and 6 assists. Ryan Cicenas drained 5 threes of his own to finish with 15 points and 4 rebounds. The Bulldogs finished the tournament 2-2. Their next game will be 01/05 against Wheaton Academy at RB.
Varsity Bulldogs Pick up Win Against TF South The Bulldogs (6-7, 4-1) got back on track with a 72-59 win against TF South in the York Christmas Tournament. The team played a very efficient offensive game shooting 67% from the floor including 62% (13-21) from 3pt range. Ryan Cicenas dropped 23 points (5-8 3pt) to lead the Bulldog scoring attack. Zach Vaia (12pts) hit 4 threes and Patrick Hanley (13pts.) added 3 of his own. Reggie Loury (10pts) contributed big minutes from the bench going a perfect 4-4 from the floor and getting some big offensive rebounds and put-backs. The Bulldogs close out the York Christmas Tournament 12/29 against Rolling Meadows.
Varsity Drops Game 2 at York Xmas Tournament The Varisty Bulldogs lost 67-56 to McHenry in round 2 of the the York Christmas Tournament. McHenry used a big 3rd quarter to stretch out their lead and the Bulldogs were never able to get back in the game. Ryan Cicenas led the team with 12 points. Zach Vaia and Patrick Hanley each added 10 in the loss.
Varsity Loses 1st Rd Game at York Xmas Tournament The Varsity team lost their opening round game of the York Xmas tournament to St. Pat's 46-45. The Bulldogs erased a late 9 point deficit to take the lead with 1 minute remaining. St. Pat's hit a tough 3 with 20 seconds remaining to give them the lead and the Bulldogs could not capitalize on the ensuing offensive possession. Charles Terry & Jason Bageanis led the Bulldogs with 10 points each. Andrew Veon contributed with 6 points, 4 blocks and 7 rebounds.
Bulldogs Make It 4 In-a-Row With Win Against Glenbard South!!! The Bulldogs (5-5, 4-1) put away the Raiders on Friday night with a 54-38 win on the road. A strong 2nd quarter catapulted the Dogs to their 4 straight victory and 3rd straight conference win. A solid team defensive effort and out rebounding the Raiders 37 to 18 were keys to the conference victory. Ryan Cicenas led the Bulldogs with great defensive and 17 points (5/10 3pt). Zach Vaia filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. The Bulldogs are now tied atop the conference with Wheaton Academy who they will face 01/05 in their next conference game. Varsity Gets 3rd Straight Win 50-32 Over Fenton! The Bulldogs (4-5, 3-1) picked up their third straight victory with a win over conference foe Fenton 50-32. The defense hounded the Bison forcing them into 19 turnovers and converting that into 24 points. Andrew Veon led the Bulldogs balanced scoring attack with 9 points while grabbing 6 rebounds. Ryan Cicenas, Patrick Hanley and Zach Vaia all chipped in with 8 points of their own. The Bulldogs go for four in a row this Friday as they travel to Glenbard South to do battle with the Raiders.
Varsity Closes Strong for 69-65 Victory over Aurora Central Catholic The Bulldogs (3-5, 2-1) pick up their second straight conference victory over ACC Friday night. A balanced scoring attack, big stops late in the 4th, and clutch free throws by Zach Vaia and Reggie Loury were keys to the Dogs win. Andrew Veon played good all-around game to lead the Bulldogs with 13 points, 7 assists and 8 rebounds. First Conference Game Slips Away from Varsity Bulldogs The Bulldogs (1-5, 0-1) lose their first conference game to IC Catholic Prep 62-56 on Tuesday night. Strong offensive performances by Zach Vaia (17pts) and Jason Bageanis (14pts) were not enough for the Bulldogs as the Knights dropped 24pts in the 4th quarter to take home the conference opener by 6. The Bulldogs continue conference play this Friday night when they travel to Illiana Christian.
Varsity Bulldogs Lose Close One to LT in Chicago Elite Classic The Bulldogs and Lions gave the fans at the UIC Pavilion a nail-biter in the 2nd game 2017 Chicago Elite Classic. The Bulldogs were able to overcome and 11pt halftime deficit thanks to some hot shooting (4-8 3's in 3rd). They finally took the lead with two minutes remaining in the game but LT sunk the final shot with just under 3 seconds remaining to close out the victory. Ryan Cicenas finished with 15pts to lead the Dogs with Zach Vaia adding 12 and Reggie Loury contributing 11. The Bulldogs begin conference play at home Tuesday night against IC Catholic Prep.

Varsity Bulldogs Snag First Win of Year Against Wheaton North!!! The Bulldogs (1-2) overcame an 8 point deficit with a little over a minute to go to get their first victory of the year 57-56 over Wheaton North. The defense stepped up in a huge way to claw back into the game and give the Dogs an opportunity to win. Ryan Cicenas drained a three with just 12 seconds to go to give the Bulldogs the lead and one final stop on the defensive end sealed the victory. Cicenas led the way with 21 points (4-7 3PTs) and 5 rebounds. Charles Terry contributed 9 points and a great defensive effort. This was Coach Mike Reingruber's 1st victory at the Varsity level for the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs close out the Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving Classic 11/25 against OPRF at 5:30pm.

The Bulldogs were able to cut a late 8pt deficit down to one in the final minute with three clutch free throws from Patrick Hanley and some great pressure defense. Varsity Comes Up Short In Season Opener Against Rich East The Varsity Bulldogs (0-1) couldn't quite keep pace as they fall to Rich East 105-95 in their opening game of the Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving Classic. The Bulldogs' defense struggled to keep Rich East's offense at bay as the Rockets found ways to score from all areas of the floor. RB battled back in the 4th quarter, but the Rockets closed it out in the end. Ryan Cicenas led the Bulldogs with 29 points (7 3PFs). Zach Vaia added 16 points and 6 assists. While Andrew Veon (14 points) & Charles Terry (11 points) also reached double figures. Jason Bageanis hit the glass to lead the Bulldogs with 9 rebounds.
