Sophomores Win 7th Straight Game and Finish 19-5! The Sophomore Bulldogs have played their best basketball of the season over the past month, winning 7 straight games and finishing the month of February undefeated. The Bulldogs jumped out to a 20-2 lead and never looked back, withstanding several St. Charles East runs to finish with the 78-65 victory. Freshman Ryan Cicenas led the way for the Bulldogs with 27 points and 4 rebounds. Curtis Baker added 17 points and 6 assists. Jamari Wise chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Jalen Brooks was the fourth Bulldog in double figures with 14 points and 8 rebounds. The Dogs finish their very successful season 19-5 overall, winning the Metro Suburban Conference Championship and also winning the Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving Classic.
Sophomores Improve to 18-5! The Sophomore Bulldogs played a great defensive game against St. Ignatius, leading 25-7 at halftime before cruising to a 55-34 victory over the Wolfpack. Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Curtis Baker had 11 points and 6 assists, while Jamari Wise chipped in 9 points and 6 rebounds. The Dogs improve to 18-5 overall and host St. Charles East on Friday, February 27th at 5:30pm.
Sophomores Win Outright Conference Title! The Sophomore Bulldogs jumped out to an impressive 19-2 lead and led 27-7 after one quarter and never looked back leading 42-14 at halftime. The Dogs increased the lead to 58-25 after three quarters and finished with a 72-38 victory over the the Raiders. The Bulldogs had great balance, placing 4 players in double figures. Jalen Brooks led the way with 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Keenan Scott added 13 points. Curtis Baker added 10 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Ryan Cicenas chipped in 10 points and 6 assists. The Bulldogs improve to 17-5 overall and 11-1 in the Metro Suburban Conference, which gives them their 9th consecutive conference championship and 13th in the past 14th year on the sophomore level. Sophomores Clinch a Share of Conference Championship! The Sophomore Bulldogs led the Green Wave 17-11 after one quarter and held St. Edward to 4 points in the second quarter, and took a 37-15 lead into halftime. The Dogs led by as many as 37 points in the third quarter before cruising to a 66-35 victory to secure at least a tie for the conference championship! Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Ryan Cicenas added 12 points and 7 assists. Jamari Wise contributed a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Keenan Scott just missed double figures with 9 points. The Bulldogs improve to 16-5 overall and 10-1 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs host Glenbard South at 5;30pm on Friday, February 20th.
Sophomores Improve to 15-5! The Sophomore Bulldogs fell down 6-0 on Fenton before going on a 14-0 run to close out the first quarter, leading 14-6. The Dogs took a 34-18 lead into halftime and finished with a 63-53 victory. Freshman Ryan Cicenas led the way with 26 points and 5 rebounds. Jalen Brooks added 20 points and 8 rebounds. The Dogs improve to 15-5 overall and 9-1 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs travel to Elgin St. Edward at 6:00pm on Tuesday, February 17th.
Sophomores Improve to 8-1 in the Conference! The Sophomore Bulldogs had trouble making a layup in the first quarter and were tied with ACC 9-9 after one. The Dogs played better as the game went on, leading 25-16 at halftime and 46-23 after three quarters, before finishing with the 55-34 victory. Curtis Baker led the Bulldogs with 20 points, 6 rebonds, 6 assists, and 3 steals. Jalen Brooks added 12 points and 5 rebounds, while Ryan Cicenas chipped in 8 points and 6 rebounds. Sophomores Take Sole Possession Of First Place In Conference! The Sophomore Bulldogs trailed most of the game against Immaculate Conception, but overcame a 10 point third quarter deficit to finish with a much needed 49-43 victory. Curtis Baker really propelled the Bulldog attack in the early 4th quarter and finished with 14 points. Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The Bulldogs improve to 13-5 overall and 7-1 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs play on Tuesday, February 10th at 6:00pm.
Sophomores Struggle Offensively in Loss! The Sophomore Bulldogs were tied with Illiana Christian 10-10 after the first quarter and got outscored 18-1 in the second quarter, trailing 28-11 at halftime. The Dogs played better in the second half cutting the Illiana Christian lead to 6 points with about 2 minutes to play, but ended up losing 52-44. Curtis Baker had 10 points. Doushon Whitaker came off the bench and added 8 points. Jack Jurgens made two key three pointers late in the game to contribute 6 points. The Dogs fall to 12-4 overall and travel to Wheaton Academy on Friday, January 30th to play the Warriors at 6:00pm.
Sophomore Bulldogs Improve to 12-3 Overall! The Sophomore Bulldogs came out with a lot of energy and set the tone for the game in the first quarter, leading 18-9 after one. The Dogs played even better in the second quarter and increased their lead to 38-22 at halftime, behind 7 first half three pointers by the team. The Dogs led by as many as 24 points in the 4th quarter, before finishing with the 68-48 victory. Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 21 points. Curtis Baker added 20 points and 5 assists, while Jamari Wise chipped in 8 points and made numerous hustle plays. The win improves the Bulldogs record to 12-3 overall. The Bulldogs play next on Friday, January 23rd at 6:00pm in the Metro Suburban Conference Crossover game at Illiana Christian High School.
Varsity and Sophomore Bulldogs Finish First Round of Conference Play Undefeated! The Sophomore Bulldogs started very slow, trailing the Raiders of Glenbard South 8-7 after one quarter. The Dogs were slightly better in the second part of the second quarter and took a 32-21 lead into halftime. The Dogs turned up their defensive intensity in the second half which led to many easy baskets as they opened up a 31 point lead, before finishing with the 53-27 victory. Jalen Brooks had his second straight double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Curtis Baker added 10 points and 4 steals. Jamari Wise and Caleb Lucas were both very solid with 7 points and 4 rebounds each. The Sophomore Bulldogs improve to 11-3 overall and 6-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Bulldogs played better defense in the second half and led by as many as 25 points in the mid fourth quarter before finishing with the 57-37 victory. Sophomores Rebound With Win vs. St. Laurence The Sophomore Bulldogs won a very sloppy game against St. Laurence, taking third place at the St. Laurence Big Gold tournament. The Dogs led 22-16 at halftime and led 31-21 after 3 quarters, before blowing the game open in the fourth quarter and finishing with a 53-35 victory. Jalen Brooks and Ryan Cicenas each contributed 17 points and 6 rebounds, while Curtis Baker chipped in 8 points. The Bulldogs improve to 9-3 overall and are next in action on Tuesday, January 6th at 5:30 vs. Elgin St. Edward at RBHS.
Sophomores Lose Hard Fought Game to Marist! The Sophomore Bulldogs started out slow, trailing 18-11 after one quarter and 31-23 at halftime. However, the Dogs wouldn't quit, cutting the Marist lead to 2 on multiple occasions in the second half and couldn't get over the hump, before falling 59-53. Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Cicenas added 14 points and Curtis Baker chipped in 12 points and 3 steals. The Dogs have a quick turnaround, playing St. Laurence at 12:30pm on Saturday, December 27th in the 3rd place game of the St. Laurence Big Gold tournament. The Bulldogs drop to 8-3 overall on the season.
Sophomores Open Up Big Gold Tournament With Convincing Win Over Nazareth! The Sophomore Bulldogs bounced back from a very poor offensive performance against LT with a great offensive performance that against Nazareth, that saw 4 different players score in double figures. The Bulldogs led 18-10 after one quarter and 40-25 at halftime. The Dogs blew the game wide open in the third quarter, outscoring Nazareth 19-5 in the quarter before finishing with 70-40 victory. Ryan Cicenas led the Bulldogs with 23 points and 5 assists. Curtis Baker had a solid overall game with 10 points, 4 assists, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Jalen Brooks and Jamari Wise also added 10 points each, while Doushon Whitaker came off the bench to contribute 5 assists. The Dogs improve to 8-2 overall and take on Marist on Friday, December 26th at 12:30pm in the semifinals of the Big Gold Tournament at St. Laurence High School.
Sophomores Struggle Offensively in Loss. The Sophomore Bulldogs struggled offensively throughout the entire game. The Dogs led 15-13 at halftime, but couldn't get in any kind of sync offensively in the second half, falling to the Lions 33-27. Ryan Cicenas led the Bulldogs with 15 points. The Dogs as a team were 9-49 from the field and 3-25 from three point range, which isn't going to win many games. The Dogs drop to 7-2 on the season and begin play in the St. Laurence Big Gold Holiday Tournament on Tuesday, December 23rd at 9:30am vs. Nazareth.
Sophomores improve to 7-1. The Sophomore Dogs came out with a ton of energy and were clicking on all cylinders, leading Fenton 30-2 at the end of the 1st quarter. The Dogs then coasted to a 68-33 victory that saw everyone play substantial minutes. Ryan Cicenas led the Bulldogs with 22 points. Curtis Baker added 9 points and 6 assists. The Sophomore Bulldogs improve to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs travel to Lyons Township on Saturday, December 20th at 3:30 pm to take on the Lions.

However, the Dogs picked things up in the second quarter and took a 34-18 lead into halftime and a 59-25 lead after three quarters, before finishing with the 69-37 victory. Sophomores Blast Immaculate Conception! The Sophomore Bulldogs jumped out to a quick lead and led 21-4 after a quarter, before taking a 31-18 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs then played tremendous defense in the 3rd quarter and outscored the IC Knights 15-2 taking a 46-20 lead into the fourth quarter. The Dogs build the lead to 28 points before finishing with a 55-30 victory. The sophomore Dogs placed 4 players in doubles figures with Ryan Cicenas leading the way with 14 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds. Jamari Wise added 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Jalen Brooks added 12 points and 9 rebounds. Curtis Baker chipped in 10 points in the win. The Sophomore Dogs improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Sophomores host Aurora Central Catholic at 3:30pm on Saturday, December 13th.
Sophomores Prevail in Tough Battle Against Wheaton Warrenville South The Sophomore Bulldogs played very good in stretches and very bad in stretches, but were able to make enough plays down the stretch to defeat Wheaton Warrenville South 52-47. The Dogs were up 17-11 after one quarter and struggled to score in the second quarter, taking a 22-11 lead into the half. The Dogs and Tigers played even in the third quarter, with the Bulldogs leading 32-31 after three quarters. The fourth quarter started out back and forth and numerous Bulldogs made big plays down the stretch to seal the victory. Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 25 points. Ryan Cicenas added 12 points and 4 assists, while Curtis Baker chipped in 11 points. The Dogs shot the ball well and had 10 three pointers for the game. The Dogs improve to 4-1 overall and play next on Friday, December 12th at 6:00pm in Metro Suburban Conference matchup at Immaculate Conception.
Varsity and Sophomores Both Open Up Conference Play With Wins. The Sophomore Bulldogs came out with a lot of energy in the first quarter and led Wheaton Academy 17-12. Wheaton Academy cut the Bulldog lead to 19-17 midway through the second quarter before the Bulldogs went on 17-5 run to close out the half and lead 36-22 at halftime. The Dogs increased their lead to 24 points in the second half, before finishing with the 65-51 victory. Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 18 points. Freshman Ryan Cicenas chipped in 17 points and had 7 assists, while Jamari Wise added 14 points. Caleb Lucas added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the win. The Bulldogs improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs host Wheaton Warrenville South on Tuesday, December 9th at 5:30pm.
Sophomores Defeat Oak Park River Forest--Win Bill VandeMerkt Classic Championships! The Sophomore Dogs responded to Oak Park's tremendous pressure with a 13-9 first quarter lead and 29-27 halftime lead. The Dogs led 39-37 after three quarters and clamped down defensively in the fourth quarter to win 52-45. Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 20 points and Freshman Ryan Cicenas chipped in 19 points. Point guard Curtis Baker contributed 7 points, including a huge three pointer with 4 minutes to play. The victory put the Bulldogs in position to win the tournament championship based on the tie-breaker (RB, Oak Park, and De Paul Prep all finished 2-1). The Bulldogs won the tie-breaker (point differential) with a +15, defeating Oak Park who was +13, and De Paul Prep who was +6. The Dogs improve to 2-1 and take on a talented Wheaton Academy team to open conference play on Friday, December 5th at 5:30pm at RB.
Sophomores Win Big! The Sophomore Dogs opened up a 21-6 first quarter lead and led 37-16 at halftime, before cruising to a 57-38 victory. Freshman Ryan Cicenas led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 5 rebounds. Jalen Brooks chipped in 16 points, while Jamari Wise added 9 points in the victory. The Bulldog improve to 1-1 on the season and host Oak Park River Forest at 4:00pm on Saturday, November 29th in the final game of the Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving Classic.
Sophomores Come Up Short! The Sophomore Bulldogs started out with a 12-6 first quarter lead and clung to a 21-18 halftime lead. The Dogs battled foul trouble throughout most of the game, had trouble scoring the basketball, and gave up too many second chance points to De Paul Prep in the second half. The Dogs fell 47-40. Jalen Brooks led the Bulldogs with 17 points and 5 rebounds, while Ryan Cicenas chipped in 10 points. The Dogs next play Lane Tech on Friday, November 28th at 4:30pm.
