Sophomores Finish The Season 21-3! The Sophomore Bulldogs finished a tremendous season with a 60-45 victory over Elmwood Park. The Tigers kept in close for about 2 1/2 quarters before the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half. The Dogs were led by Jalen Clanton's 19 points, and James Kaczmarzyk's 18 points. Sam Falk added 9 points and 7 rebounds, while Davonte Mikell chipped in 8 points and 5 steals. The Dogs finish the season 21-3, which is the 7th straight 20 win season on the sophomore level. The season saw many highlights including being undefeated 12-0 and winning the Metro Suburban Conference championship. The Bulldogs also won the St. Laurence Big Gold Holiday Classic for only the second time since 2001. The Dogs also had an impressive 18 game winning streak during the season. This class has been very productive over their two years at RB, with a very impressive record of 45-3 during their freshman and sophomore campaigns combined. The Bulldogs over the past 7 seasons have been extremely successful on the sophomore level, with an overall record of 150-18 and an 86-1 conference record. The sophomore Bulldogs are also currently on a 53 game conference winning streak. Congratulations on a very successful sophomore season to all the players and the coaching staff is looking forward to great things in the future.
Sophomores Win 20th Game! The Sophomore Bulldogs shot poorly from the field 18-59 overall, and 3-20 from three point range. The Dogs were also terrible from the foul line, shooting 16-34, but they still found a way to defeat Providence. The Dogs were down 16-9 after one quarter, 22-17 at halftime, and 32-29 after three quarters. The Dogs were down 44-42 with 18 seconds left, ran some offense and Jalen Clanton got fouled going to the rim with 1.8 seconds left. He calmly sunk both free throws to force the overtime. Overtime was all Bulldogs as they outscored the Celtics 11-4 to secure the 55-48 victory. Clanton led the Bulldogs with 21 points, all in the second half, and chipped in 7 rebounds and 3 assists. James Kaczmarzyk added 11 points and 5 rebounds. Mikey Berscheid added 9 points, while Ryan Swift finished with 6 points and 10 rebounds. The win marks the Bulldogs 20th for the season and the 7th straight season the sophomore Bulldogs have won at least 20 games. The Dogs improve to 20-3 overall and travel to Elmwood Park on Friday, February 28th at 5:30, in the final game of the season.
Tough Night For Bulldogs at St. Charles East! The Sophomore Bulldogs fell behind early, 8-0 and and trailed 16-15 at the end of one quarter. The Dogs took the lead in the second quarter, but trailed St. Charles East 29-27 at halftime. The Bulldogs led numerous times in the second half and the game was tied at 40-40 at the end of three quarters. However, St. Charles took control of the game late in the fourth quarter and held on to defeat the Bulldogs 62-52. Jalen Clanton led the Bulldogs with 18 points. James Kazmarczyk chipped in 16 points and Sam Falk had 12 points and 5 rebounds. The loss drops the Bulldogs overall record to 19-3 and they travel to Providence Catholic High School on Tuesday, February 25th in non-conference action at 5:30pm.
Sophomores Clinch Conference Championship! The Sophomore Bulldogs won their 8th consecutive conference championship and 12th in the past 13 years with a 63-46 victory over the Rebels of Ridgewood. The Dogs trailed 14-12 after one quarter and lead 32-24 at halftime, before stepping up in the second half to finish with the victory. Freshman Jalen Clanton had 27 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 steals. Mikey Berscheid continued his solid play with 13 points. James Kaczmarczyk chipped in 7 points and had a team high 9 rebounds. The Dogs improve to 19-2 overall and 11-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs travel to St. Charles East at 4:30pm on Saturday, February 22nd.
Sophomore Comeback Falls Short! The
Sophomore Bulldogs lost for just the second time this season at Wheaton
Warrenville South. The Tigers came out on fire, making 4 three
pointers on their first five possessions and jumping out to a 15-2
lead. The Bulldogs trailed 21-6 after1 quarter. The Dogs played better
in the second quarter, cutting into the Tiger lead and trailed 30-18 at
halftime. The second half the Bulldogs turned up the energy level and
cut the lead to 39-35 after 3 quarters. Things continued to go in favor
of the Bulldogs in the fourth quarter, as Jalen Clanton hit a huge
three pointer to put the Bulldogs up for the first time, 43-41 with just
over two minutes to play. However, the Bulldogs couldn't sustain the
solid effort and had three very costly turnovers and a couple costly
fouls in the last 2 minutes. Trailing by three with 9 seconds left and
the ball, the Tigers got a needed defensive stand, got fouled and made 2
free throws to seal the 50-45 final margain. The Bulldogs 18 game
winning streak was snapped and are now 18-2 overall. Jalen Clanton led
the Bulldogs with 18 points. James Kaczmarczyk chipped in 9 points.
Mikey Berscheid had 7 assists. The Dogs host Ridgewood in a Metro
Suburban Conference battle at 5:30pm on Friday, February 21st. Sophomores Gut Out Tough Conference Win! The Sophomore Bulldogs didn't bring their A game, shooting poorly, having an uncharacteristic 19 turnovers, and doing a poor job defensive rebounding, but won a hard fought game with a tough Glenbard South team. The Dogs took control early on, but Glenbard South made a run at the end of the first quarter to take a 14-12 lead. The Dogs played a little better in the second quarter and took a 29-21 lead at halftime. The Dogs could never expand the lead to more than 10 points in the second half. Glenbard South cut the game to 3 points numerous times. The Dogs closed the game out by going 6-6 from the free throw line in the final minute to win 54-46. Mikey Berscheid played very well scoring 20 points. Jalen Clanton chipped in 10 points and 9 rebounds. James Kaczmarczyk added 8 points, all in the first quarter. The win is the Dogs 51st consecutive conference win on the sophomore level and 18th game in a row this season. The Dogs improve to 18-1 overall and 10-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs play next on Wednesday, February 19th at 5:30 pm at Wheaton Warrenville South. Sophomores With Big Conference Win The Sophomore Bulldogs started slow vs. Illiana Christian, trailing most of the first quarter. Jalen Clanton had a steal and layup at the first quarter buzzer to tie the game at 15. The Dogs played a solid second quarter and led 30-23 at halftime. The Dogs extended the lead to 45-30 after three quarters, before finishing with the 57-34 victory. James Kaczmarczyk led the Bulldogs with 15 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Swift and Jalen Clanton chipped in 12 points each, with Swift pulling down 11 rebounds. Mikey Berscheid contributed to the Bulldog balance with 9 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. The Bulldogs have now won 17 games in a row and improve to 17-1 overall and 9-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs have a huge game on Friday, February 14th vs. Glenbard South at 5:30pm.
Sophomores Win 16th Straight Game! The
Sophomore Bulldogs won their 16 straight game this season with the
59-27 victory over Timothy Christian. The Dogs led 11-3 after one
quarter and 26-13 at halftime before cruising to the victory. Mikey
Berscheid led the Bulldogs with 17 points. The Dogs improve to 16-1
overall and 8-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs host Illiana
Christian on Tuesday, February 11th at 5:30pm.
Sophomores Cruise to Easy Win Against Fenton! The Sophomore Bulldogs led Fenton 20-11 after one quarter, 42-23 at halftime, 60-29 after 3 quarter and cruised to a 69-41 victory. Mike Berscheid led the Bulldogs with 16 points. James Kaczmarczyk added 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Jalen Clanton chipped in 13 points and had 6 steals. The win is the Bulldogs 15th straight as they improve to 15-1 overall and 7-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. Next up, the Bulldogs host Timothy Christian on Friday, February 7th at 5:30pm.
Varsity and Sophomore Blow Out Elmwood Park! The Sophomore Bulldogs jumped on Elmwood
Park from the start of the game and led 36-11 at halftime and cruised to
a 68-24 victory over the Tigers. The Bulldogs held the Tigers to only 6
field goals the entire game. Jalen Clanton led the Bulldogs with 14
points. Sam Falk chipped in 12 points. James Kaczmarczyk had a solid
overall game with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists. Mikey
Berscheid finished with 9 points. The Dogs won their 14th straight game
and improve to 14-1 overall and 6-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference.
The Bulldogs next play on Tuesday, January 28th in a non-conference
matchup at Wheaton-Warrenville Southat 5:30pm Sophomores Win 13th Straight Game! The Sophomore Dogs
started out slow and trailed 16-15 after the first quarter against
Ridgewood. The Dogs got things going in the right direction a little
more in the second quarter and took a 32-25 lead into halftime. The
third quarter was all Bulldogs. After Ridgewood scored the first basket
of the 3rd quarter, the Dogs went on a blistering 25-0 run and blew the
game wide open before finishing with the 76-41 win. James Kaczmarczyk
led the Bulldogs with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman, Jalen
Clanton chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists. Ryan Swift had
a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, while Mike Berscheid
added 11 points. Maclean Nolan came off the bench to contribute 8
points. The marks the Bulldogs 13th straight, to improve to 13-1
overall and 5-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Bulldogs host
Elmwood Park at 5:30pm on Friday, January 24th.
Varsity and Sophomores With Blowout Wins vs. Von Steuben The Sophomore Bulldogs won their 12th straight game to improve to 12-1 overall with a 53-33 win over Von Steuben. The Dogs jumped out to a 19-4 first quarter lead and never looked back. Jalen Clanton led the Bulldogs with 20 points. Ryan Swift added 8 points and 12 rebounds. The Bulldogs play Ridgewood next on Friday, January 17th at 5:30pm in a Metro Suburban conference matchup.
Varsity and Sophomores with Big Conference Wins vs.Glenbard South! The Sophomore Bulldogs won their 11th straight game with a 56-48 victory against Glenbard South. The
game marks the Sophomore Bulldogs 45th consecutive Metro Suburban
Conference victory. The Dogs started out slow and trailed 8-0 and 12-3,
before closing the first quarter deficit to 14-12. The Dogs then took
command in the second quarter, feeding off energy created by a James
Kaczmarczyk dunk to take a 30-27 halftime lead. The Bulldogs built the
lead to 11 midway through the third quarter. However, the Raiders
wouldn't go away and ended up tying the game early in the fourth
quarter, before the Bulldogs closed the game out and finished with the
victory. Jalen Clanton led the Bulldogs with 20 points. Sam Falk
chipped in 11 points and 4 rebounds. Mike Berscheid added 9 points and
James Kaczmarczyk and Ryan Swift each finished with 8 points. The
victory improves the Bulldogs overall record to 11-1 and 4-0 in the
Metro Suburban Conference. The Dogs host Von Steuben at 3:00pm on
Saturday, January 11th. Sophomores Win Big Gold Tournament Championship! The Sophomore Bulldogs started out strong and never looked back in the championship game of the St. Laurence Big Gold Tournament. The Dogs took on the host school and played the first quarter at a furious pace, jumping out to a 23-14 lead. The Dogs then took a 32-21 lead into halftime. The Dogs and Vikings played an even third quarter, with the score 46-35. Then, the Dogs started the fourth quarter on fire, opening up a 20 point lead before finishing with a 62-52 victory for the championship! James Kaczmarczyk led the Bulldogs with 21 points and had 10 rebounds. Jalen Clanton added 17 points and 4 assists. Ryan Swift chipped in 11 points. The victory is also the Bulldogs 10th straight win, with the Dogs improving to 10-1 overall. The Sophomore Dogs are off until January 10th, when they host Glenbard South at 5:30pm.
Sophomores Advance to Championship of Big Gold Tournament! The Sophomore Bulldogs fell behind York in the first quarter 15-9, but went on a 8-0 run to open up the second quarter and carried that to a 27-25 halftime lead. The Dogs then built their lead to as many as 8 points in the 3rd quarter, before York made a 6-0 run to close out the quarter and cut the Bulldog lead to 39-37. The Bulldogs and Dukes traded baskets in the fourth quarter, before the Bulldogs took a 1 point lead with about 5minutes to play on a James Kaczmarczyk three pointer. The Dogs then closed out the game with a 52-46 victory. Kaczmarczyk led the Bulldogs with 14 points. Jalen Clanton added 12 points, while Mike Berscheid added 10 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Swift came off the bench to add 9 points in the win. The Dogs improve to 9-1 overall and take on the host school, St. Laurence at 2:00pm for the Big Gold Tournament Championship, on Saturday, December 28th. Sophomores Defeat Leo in Opening Round of Big Gold Tournament! The
Sophomore Bulldogs started out slow and gradually pulled away from the
Leo Lions as the game went on. The Dogs led by as many as 22 points in
the second half, before finishing with a 51-36 victory. Jalen Clanton
led the Bulldogs with 15 points. Sam Falk added 13 points and 9
rebounds. Ryan Swift chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. The Bulldogs
play in the semifinals of the St. Laurence Big Gold tournament at
12:30pm on Friday, December 27th against York. Sophomores Improve to 7-1! The Sophomore Bulldogs led 15-13 after one quarter and held the Vikings without a field goal in the second quarter, increasing their lead to 37-20 at halftime. The Bulldogs led Illiana Christian 54-36 with just over 4 minutes to go and Illiana made a furious comeback to cut the game to 53-48 with 50 seconds to play. Jalen Clanton had a nice drive and layup, got fouled and made the free throw to improve the Bulldog lead to 56-48. The Dogs then closed the game out with a 57-48 victory. Jalen Clanton led the Bulldogs with 20 points, 4 assists and 5 steals. James Kaczmarczyk added 13 points, while Mike Berscheid returned from injury to score 12 points. The Bulldogs improve to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. The Bulldogs open play in the St. Laurence High School, Big Gold tournament at 9:30am on December 26th vs. Leo High School. Sophomores Win 6th Game in a Row! The
Sophomore Bulldogs jumped out to a 18-4 first quarter lead and led
29-14 at halftime. The Dogs then came out and outscored the Trojans
20-2 in the third quarter to take a commanding 49-16 lead after three
quarters, before finishing with the 53-21 victory. James Kaczmarczyk
led the Bulldogs with 19 points and Jalen Clanton added 14 points and 6
rebounds. Jack Domeier chipped in 8 points and 5 rebounds. The Dogs
played great defense and had 18 steals for the game. The Bulldogs
improve to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference and
travel to Illiana Christian for a Metro Suburban Conference match-up on
Friday, December 20th at 5:30pm.
Sophomores Win Hard Fought Game vs. Glenbard East! The Sophomore Bulldogs played a solid first quarter and took a 18-12 lead against a talented Glenbard East team. The Dogs built the lead to 12 points in the second quarter but couldn't put away the pesky Rams and took a 34-28 lead into halftime. The third quarter was played even and the Dogs led 43-37. The Dogs started to take command again in the 4th quarter building their lead to 10 points halfway through the fourth. However with some bad turnovers and poor free throw shooting, the Bulldogs let the Rams back in the game and luckily held on for a 59-56 victory. The Dogs shot a very uncharacteristic 13-27 from the free throw line. Jalen Clanton led the Bulldogs with 22 points, including 4 three pointers. James Kaczmarczyk added 10 points. Sam Falk chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. The Dogs improve to 5-1 and travel to Timothy Christian on Tuesday, December 17th at 5:30pm.
Varsity, Sophomores and Freshman A with Big Wins over Neighborhood Rival Lyons Township. The Sophomore Bulldogs and the Lions traded baskets early in the game and were
tied 8-8 before the Bulldogs went on a 11-0 run to close out the
quarter and took a 19-8 lead. The Dogs then built the lead to as many
as 14 points in the second quarter before the Lions went on a run to
close out the half and cut the Bulldog lead to 34-27. The second half
was all Bulldogs, as the Dogs build a 22 point lead in the second half
before finishing with the 60-41 victory. James Kaczmarczyk led the
Bulldog with 23 points and 6 rebounds. Jalen Clanton had a solid
overall game with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 6 steals. The
Dogs improve to 4-1 on the season and travel to Glenbard East High
School on Wednesday, December 11th at 5:30pm.
Sophomores Win Conference Opener vs. Fenton! The Sophomore Bulldogs started out strong, taking a 13-6 lead after one quarter and a 32-11 lead at halftime. The Bison came out in the second half and played harder and with more energy than the Bulldogs, cutting the lead to 11 before the Bulldogs closed out the game with a 51-36 victory. The Dogs improve to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference. James Kaczmarczyk led the Bulldogs with 21 points. Sam Falk contributed 10 rebounds. The Dogs host Lyons Township at 4:30 on Saturday, December 7th in a non-conference battle.
Sophomores Gut Out Win vs.
Oak Park! Freshman A Wins Championship Vs. Fenwick! The Sophomore Bulldogs
won a hard fought game vs. Oak Park-River Forest. The Bulldogs battled
foul trouble throughout the game and got contributions from a number of
players. The Dogs led 23-14 after one quarter and 33-31 at halftime.
The Dogs led 44-41 after three quarters. Early in the fourth quarter,
back to back three pointers by Richie Gentile and Jalen Clanton opened
up a 9 point lead for the Bulldogs and gave them some breathing room.
The Dogs built the lead to 13 points in the fourth quarter before
holding on for the 65-57 victory against the Huskies. Jalen Clanton led
the Bulldogs with 24 points and 9 assists. Sam Falk chipped in 11
points. James Kaczmarczyk added 8 points for the Dogs. Jack Domeier
added 10 rebounds, while Ryan Swift contributed 7 rebounds and took 3
charges in the game. The Bulldogs improve to 2-1 and travel to Fenton on
Friday, December 6th at 5:30pm. Sophomores Blow Out Lane Tech! The Sophomore
Bulldogs rebounded from their loss vs. Brother Rice with a very
impressive 60-22 victory over Lane Tech. The Dogs led 20-8 after one
quarter, 37-16 at halftime and held the Indians to 6 total points in the
second half. The Bulldogs were led by James Kaczmarcyk's 18 points.
Freshman, Jalen Clanton added 12 points and Jack Domeier had 9 points
in the win. The Dogs improve to 1-1 on the season and take on Oak Park
River Forest at 4:00pm on Saturday, November 30th.
Sophomores Drop Season Opener!: The
Sophomore Bulldogs started out quick behind the hot shooting of
Freshman, Jalen Clanton, and held a 15-8 lead vs.Brother Rice.
However, the Crusaders responded to the Bulldog run and took a 30-25
lead into halftime. Most of the third and early 4th quarter was very
even. The Crusaders responded well to everything the Bulldogs threw at
them and pulled away at the end for the 57-40 victory. Jalen Clanton
led the Bulldogs with 20 points. The Bulldogs will look to rebound on
Friday, November 29th at 4:30pm vs. Lane Tech.
