Congratulations to Proviso East for Winning the 10th Annual Summer Shootout Championship! Sterling Brown and Paris Lee named Co-MVP's: In a rematch of the 2012 state championship game, Proviso East defeated Simeon 72-69 in a very entertaining championship game. Proviso East played a tremendous first half and led the Wolverines 45-31 at halftime. Simeon playing without Jabari Parker kept coming at the Pirates in the second half, but Proviso East always had an answer for every Simeon run. Sterling Brown led the way for the Pirates with 30 points. The Pirates showed their balance as Jevon Carter and Branden Jenkins each added 13 points, while Paris Lee contributed 12 points in the championship game. Simeon was led by Kendall Pollard with 19 points. Jaylon Tate and Kendrick Nunn each added 16 points in the championship game.
Paris Lee was very steady throughout the weekend and he and Sterling Brown were named Co-MVP's of the 10th Annual Shootout. The championship also marks the second consecutive championship for the Pirates and third overall in the 10 years of the tournament.
