Game One
November 24, 2010
RB vs. Lane Tech

The Sophomore Bulldogs started out strong and never looked back with an easy 71-32 victory over Lane Tech.  The Dogs jumped out to a 22-9 first quarter lead and extended that lead to 41-16 at the half.  The Dogs cleared the bench during the 3rd quarter and coasted to the victory.  Javon Taylor, Miki Ljuboja, and Eric Loury all demonstrated the Bulldogs balanced scoring with 13 points each.  Tyler Campbell had 9 points and freshman Will Kincanon added 8 points.  The Dogs are 1-0 and host Nazareth at 5:30 on Friday, November 26th.

Game Two

Sophomore Bulldogs Improve to 2-0 with Victories Over Nazareth

The Sophomore Bulldogs struggled to score for most of the game against Nazareth.  With the Dogs up 1 with 9 seconds remaining, Nazareth hit a 3 pointer to go ahead 39-37 with 2 seconds.  After a Bulldog timeout, Liam Lesniak inbounded to Javon Taylor, who took two dribbles and made a halfcourt shot to give the Bulldogs a thrilling 40-39 victory.  The basket was Taylor's first of the game.  Liam Lesniak led the Bulldogs with 11 points and 9 rebounds, while Miki Ljuboja added 9 points for the Bulldogs.

Game Three

Sophomores Fall In Championship Games of Bill VandeMerkt Classic

The Sophomore Bulldogs struggled taking care of the basketball in the first quarter of their game vs. a very talented Oak Park River Forest team and trailed 22-5 at the end of the quarter.  However, the Dogs settled down and cut the Oak Park lead to 28-19 at halftime and then came out in the third quarter and scored the first 4 points of the quarter.  The Dogs traded baskets with Oak Park for most of the rest of the game.  The closest the Bulldogs could get was trailing by 3 with 3 minutes left, but couldn't get over the top.  The Dogs had opportunities but couldn't get the key stop or key basket when they needed it and fell to the Huskies 51-46 in the championship game of the Bill VandeMerkt Thanksgiving Classic.  Eric Loury led the Bulldogs with 14 points.  Freshman Will Kincanon added 9 points and 9 rebounds.  Javon Taylor had 9 points and 6 rebounds, and Miki Ljuboja played solid adding 8 points.  The Dogs are 2-1 and travel to Elmwood Park on December 3, to play the Tigers at 5:30pm.

Game Four

RB vs. Elmwood Park

The Sophomore Bulldogs played a flawless first quarter, jumping out to a 36-0 lead at the end of the quarter and 48-11 at halftime, before cruising to a 77-23 victory.  12 different Bulldogs scored in the contest with Eric Loury and Miki Ljuboja leading the Dogs with 14 and 13 points respectively.  The Dogs improve to 3-1 overall and travel to Lyons Township on Saturday, December 4th for a 4:30 contest. 

Game Five

RB vs. Lyons Township

The Sophomore Bulldogs got off to a quick start and found a way to hold on for the victory against Lyons Township.  The Dogs held a 15-8 first quarter lead and led 21-10 early in the second quarter, before going ice cold from the field, and trailing 24-23 at halftime.  The Dogs and Lions traded baskets throughout the second half.  With the Bulldogs leading 41-38, late in the game, LT hit a 3 point shot with 15 seconds left to tie the game.  After struggling to get the ball inbounds, the Dogs got the ball inbounds and Eric Loury drove into the lane and made a nice pass to Miki Ljuboja for the game winning layup with less than 2 seconds to play, giving the Bulldogs the 43-41 victory.  Ljuboja led the Bulldogs with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Javon Taylor had 13 points and 5 rebounds for the Bulldogs, including a huge three pointer with less than 2 minutes to play in the game.  Freshman Will Kincanon added 8 points and 16 rebounds for the Dogs.  The Dogs improve to 4-1 and host Providence Catholic on Wednesday, December 8th at 5:30 at RB. 

Game Six

RB vs. Providence Catholic

The Sophomore Bulldogs started out strong with a 22-14 first quarter lead and clamped down defensively in the second quarter, leading 37-18 at halftime.  The Dogs increased their lead to 46-23 after three quarters and cruised to the 56-37 victory.  Eric Loury led the Bulldogs with 19 points and played great defense on Providence's leading scorer.  Javon Taylor added 11 points and 3 assists.  Miki Ljuboja and Liam Lesniak each had 7 points, with Ljuboja adding 7 rebounds and Lesniak adding 6 rebounds.  The Dogs improve to 5-1 and host Glenbard East at 5:30pm on Wednesday, December 15th.



Game Seven
December 15, 2010
RB vs. Glenbard East

The Sophomore Bulldogs hosted the Rams of Glenbard East in a non-conference matchup and got off to a quick start leading 18-11 after one quarter and increased that lead to 33-21 at halftime.  The Dogs increased the lead further leading 50-36 after 3 quarters.  The Rams fought back and cut the lead to 6 with 5 minutes remaining, but the Bulldogs went on a 7-0 run behind Javon Taylor and Eric Loury to bring the lead back to 13 and then held on for the 68-60 victory.  The Bulldogs showed great balance placing 5 players in double figures.  Javon Taylor led the Bulldog effort with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 steals.  Eric Loury had 14 points and 8 assists.  Miki Ljuboja had 11 points, while Liam Lesnaik added 10 points and 6 rebounds.  Freshman, Will Kincanon had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Bulldogs improve to 6-1 and travel to Timothy Christian on Friday, December 17th for a Metro Suburban Conference matchup at 5:30 pm.

Game Eight

RB vs. Timothy Christian

The RB Sophomore Bulldogs got off to a quick start and led Timothy Christian 29-10 after one quarter and 44-18 at halftime, before cruising to a 76-32 victory.  Javon Taylor led the Bulldogs with 19 points and Eric Loury added 14 points, as 12 different Bulldogs scored in the victory.  Freshman Will Kincanon had a solid game with 8 points and 8 rebounds.  The Bulldogs improve to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference.  The Dogs next play in the St. Laurence High School "Big Gold" Christmas tournament on December 27, 28, and 29th.  The Dogs play Leo on Monday, December 27 at 11:00am.



Games Nine-Eleven
December 27-29, 2010
St. Laurence Big Gold Christmas Tournament

The Sophomore Bulldogs competed in the St. Laurence Big Gold Christmas Tournament.  The Dogs took on the Lions of Leo in the first round.  The Dogs led most of the game, but couldn't hold on and fell to the Lions 48-46.  Leo would eventually go on to win the tournament, so the loss was very disappointing for the Bulldogs.  Freshman Will Kincanon led the Bulldogs with 14 points and 7 rebounds.  Eric Loury added 11 points and Liam Lesniak chipped in 10 points.  In the second game, the Bulldogs played Marist and turned a tie game at half time, 21-21, into a 48-35 victory.  The second half dominance was sparked by reserves, Brad Bednar, Hunter Claire, and Jack Gibson, all playing tremendous defense.  Javon Taylor led the Bulldogs with 15 points, while Eric Loury added 14. In the Consolation Championship game the Bulldogs jumped on Nazareth early and never looked back, playing tremendous defense and not giving Nazareth any open looks. The Dogs held a 26-19 lead at the half and turned that into a 46-21 advantage early in the fourth quarter, before holding on for the 53-40 victory.  Javon Taylor led the Bulldogs with 20 points and 7 steals.  Liam Lesniak added 10 points for the Bulldogs.  The Sophomore Bulldogs are now 9-2 overall and travel to Glenbard South on January 7th at 5:30 to take on the Raiders in a Metro Suburban Conference matchup.

Game Twelve

RB vs. Glenbard South

The Sophomore Bulldogs got off to a quick start, leading Glenbard South 16-5 after one quarter and 29-13 at halftime, but struggled to put the Raiders away in the second half.  In the second half Glenbard South continued to out hustle and out work the Bulldogs and refused to quit.  The Bulldogs led 43-31 after three quarters and Glenbard South made two three pointers in the final 30 seconds to cut the Bulldog lead to 7, the closest they got, as RB held on for the 53-46 victory.  6th Man, Jack Gibson was huge off the bench scoring 11 of his 13 points in the second quarter.  Miki Ljuboja had 12 points and Liam Lesniak added 10 points and 11 rebounds.  The Sophomore Dogs are now 10-2 overall and travel to St. Laurence to take on the Vikings at 5:45 on Tuesday, January 11th.

Game Thirteen

RB vs. St. Laurence

The Sophomore Bulldogs jumped out to a 16-7 first quarter lead and a 29-15 halftime lead and never looked back against the host Vikings.  The Bulldogs improved to 11-2 overall with their 58-36 victory.  Javon Taylor led the Bulldogs with 13 points and Miki Ljuboja added 10 points.  Eric Loury played great defense on St. Laurence's leading scorer, holding him to 3 points for the game.  The Bulldogs next game is Friday, January 14th at Fenton at 5:30pm.

Game Fourteen

RB vs. Fenton

The Sophomore Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 17-4 lead after one quarter and never looked back in their 61-40 Metro Suburban Conference Victory at Fenton.  The Dogs led 34-15 at halftime and 52-22 after three quarters.  Javon Taylor led the Bulldogs with 14 points and 4 assists.  Eric Loury added 12 points and Will Kincanon chipped in 11 points and 4 assists for the Dogs.  The Dogs improve to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference.  The Dogs host Illiana Christian on Friday, January 21st at 5:30pm in a battle of Metro Suburban Conference unbeatens on the sophomore level.

Game Fifteen
January 21, 2011--Staff Appreciation Night
RB vs. Illiana Christian

The Sophomore Bulldogs welcomed to Dudley Gymnasium Illiana Christian, who was also 4-0 in the conference coming into the game.  The Dogs were fired up and jumped on Illiana from the start, going ahead 15-1 and leading 36-19 at halftime.  The Bulldogs extended that lead to 62-31 early in the fourth quarter before clearing the bench and finishing with a 69-45 victory.  The Dogs continued to show their great balance with Eric Loury leading the way with 15 points.  Freshman Will Kincanon added 13 points and 9 rebounds.  Javon Taylor had a solid overall game with 12 points, 8 assists, and 5 steals.  Miki Ljuboja contributed 7 points and 7 rebounds.  The Dogs improve to 13-2 and 5-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference.  The Bulldogs host Wheaton Warrenville South on Monday, January 24th in non-conference action at 5:30.

Game Sixteen
January 24, 2011
RB vs. Wheaton Warrenville South

The Sophomore Bulldogs started out very slow vs. Wheaton Warrenville South, trailing 10-8 at the end of the first quarter and 19-14 at halftime.  However, the Bulldogs continued to play solid defense and outscored the Tigers in the second half 35-22 to secure the 49-41 victory.  Will Kincanon, Eric Loury, and Jack Gibson all hit some key free throws down the stretch.  Javon Taylor and Eric Loury led the Bulldogs with 12 points each.  Liam Lesniak played a great all-around game with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and took a huge charge late in the fourth quarter.  The Dogs improve to 14-2 overall and host Ridgewood on Friday at 5:30 in a Metro Suburban Conference matchup.

Game Seventeen
January 28, 2011
RB vs. Ridgewood

The Sophomore Bulldogs started a little slow leading 11-5 after one quarter, but picked up the pace in the second quarter leading 33-21 at halftime.  The Dogs didn't let up in the third quarter leading 58-35 at the end of 3 quarters, before finishing with a 68-45 victory.  Miki Ljuboja played a great game with 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Javon Taylor added 15 points and 4 assists, while Will Kincanon had 11 points and 5 rebounds for the Dogs.  Tyler Campbell came off the bench and gave the Bulldogs a spark in the second quarter by making back to back three pointers.  The Dogs are now 15-2 overall and finished the first half of the Metro Suburban Conference season with a perfect 6-0 record.  The Dogs host Elmwood Park at 5:30 on Tuesday, February 1st.

Game Eighteen
February 5, 2011
RB vs. Elmwood Park

The Sophomore Bulldogs jumped out to an 18-7 lead after the first quarter vs. Elmwood Park.  Then had a very sluggish second quarter, taking a 28-21 lead into halftime, before playing much better in the third quarter, leading 55-29 and then finishing with a 66-41 victory.  Miki Ljuboja led the Bulldogs with 13 points and 7 rebounds.  Javon Taylor had a very solid game finishing with a triple double of 11 points, 12 steals, and 10 assists.  Eric Loury and Jack Gibson both contributed 9 points in a game where 10 Bulldogs scored.  The Dogs have now won 9 straight games and improve to 16-2 overall and 7-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference.  RB hosts Timothy Christian on Tuesday, February 8 at 5:30 pm. 

Game Nineteen

RB vs. Timothy Christian

The Sophomore Bulldogs jumped out to a 23-10 1st quarter lead and a 46-23 halftime lead before cruising to a 75-42 victory over Timothy Christian.  The Bulldogs showed great balance as 12 players scored.  Eric Loury led the Bulldogs with 16 points, Miki Ljuboja added 15 points.  Javon Taylor had 9 points and Will Kincanon chipped in 8 points.  The Bulldogs improved to 17-2 with the victory.

Game Twenty

RB vs. Glenbard South

The Sophomore Bulldogs played tremendous defense throughout the game and led 36-11 at halftime before cruising to a 56-24 victory.  Balance offensively was again key for the Bulldogs, as Eric Loury with 12 points, Miki Ljuboja added 10, while Javon Taylor chipped in 9 points.  The Sophomore Dogs improve to 18-2 overall and 9-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference.  The Dogs next host Fenton on February 15 at 5:30 pm.

Game Twenty One

RB vs. Fenton

The Sophomore Bulldogs started off strong and never looked back with a 69-32 victory over Fenton.  The Dogs led 24-6 after a quarter and 37-12 at halftime before cruising to the victory.  Freshman Will Kincanon sparked the Bulldogs from the start with 15 first quarter points and he ended up with 8 rebounds.  Miki Ljuboja had 11 points and 7 rebounds.  Tyler Campbell had 9 points off the bench.  The victory marks the Sophomore Bulldogs 12th consecutive victory and improve their record to 19-2 overall and 10-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference.  The Bulldogs travel to Illiana Christian on Friday, February 18 at 5:30 in hopes of beating the Vikings, who are 9-1 in the conference, to win their 5th consecutive conference championship. 

Game Twenty Two

RB vs. Illiana Christian

The Sophomore Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead and an impressive 30-6 lead after one quarter before cruising to a 77-36 Metro Suburban Conference Victory at Illiana Christian.  The victory is the 13th in a row for the sophomore Bulldogs and clinches their 5th consecutive Metro Suburban Conference Championship and 9th conference championship in the last 10 years on the sophomore level.  It was a great team effort and the Dogs continue to be very solid defensively.  Liam Lesniak led the Bulldogs with 17 points.  Eric Loury and Miki Ljuboja chipped in 15 points and 12 points respectively.  Tyler Campbell had 11 points off the bench.  The Dogs improve to 20-2 overall and 11-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference and host neighborhood rival, Morton at 5:30pm on Tuesday, February 22nd.

Game Twenty Three

RB vs. Morton

The Sophomore Bulldogs continued their winning ways, with a 47-30 victory over the Mustangs of Morton.  Things didn't look good early for the Bulldogs, as they trailed 6-0.  However, the Dogs went on a 13-0 run to close out the quarter and a 6-0 run to start the second quarter, building their lead to 19-6.  The Dogs went into the half with a 26-14 lead and led late in the third quarter 45-18, before clearing the bench and finishing with a 47-30 victory.  Miki Ljuboja had a huge game with 14 points and 12 rebounds.  He had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the first half.  Javon Taylor chipped in 10 points and 5 assists and Eric Loury had 9 points.  The win is the Bulldogs 14th in a row and improves their record to 21-2 on the season.  The 21 wins ties the 2nd most wins in a season on the sophomore level in the 102 year history of playing basketball at Riverside Brookfield HS.  The 2001-02 and 2008-09 sophomore teams also achieved 21 victories.  The Dogs go for victory number 22 on Friday at 5:30 at Ridgewood.

Game Twenty Four
February 25, 2011
RB vs. Ridgewood

The Sophomore boys basketball team traveled to Ridgewood to take on the Rebels in the final game of the season.  The Dogs played without starter, Eric Loury and struggled early in the game, trailing 16-13 at halftime.  The Dogs played better in the second quarter and led 34-33 at halftime.  However, the second half was all Bulldogs as the Dogs outscored the Rebels 25-13 and won the game 59-46.  Liam Lesniak led the Bulldogs with 20 points and 8 rebounds.  Javon Taylor added 17 points.  Will Kincanon had 7 points and 8 rebounds.  This year's sophomore team finished a very memorable season, 22-2 and 12-0 in the Metro Suburban Conference.  The Conference Championship marks the 5th consecutive conference title for the sophomore Dogs and 9th in the last 10 years.  The overall record of 22-2 is also the 2nd best sophomore record in school history.  This is a great feat as RB has been playing basketball for 103 years, since 1907-08.  Congratulations to the sophomore Bulldogs on the tremendous season.
